Unisys Offers Banestes Bank Check-Truncation Solutions
12/13/2010 10:14:00 AM by Burroughs

SÀO PAULO–Unisys, the mission-critical IT solutions provider, will offer image-capture solutions using Burroughs SmartSource Adaptive A4 scanners for the check-truncation process to all Banestes Bank agencies located in the Espírito Santo state.  In addition to achieving faster customer service, this project for capturing document images is designed to reduce and optimize paper traffic and thereby reduce the bank’s need for physical archive storage infrastructure.

The check truncation is a FEBRABAN (Brazilian Banks Federation) recommendation, whose main goal is to replace all the exchange of physical documents among banks by image capture until March 2011.  This measure aims to help banks streamline their internal processes and also improve the quality of their customer services.

“With our experience in offering technologies for the banking industry, we look forward to addressing Banestes’ check-truncation needs,” said Daniele Ribeiro, director of Unisys Brazil.

“The Unisys solution allows us to capture and validate checks, as well as a variety of other items, from very small receipts up to full-page documents. “It will allow us to convert most documents to images while making our services even faster, for instance, when customers request a copy of a document,” said Rosana Rocha, manager of the Banestes’ Compe por Imagem project.

The Unisys solution for Banestes will integrate the Burroughs SmartSource Adaptive scanner, which provides the full functionality of a check scanner, with a dedicated MICR reader, fully programmable endorsement with graphics capability and high-resolution image capture to validate image quality.

“We look forward to working with Unisys and Banestes in their truncation efforts,” said Alan Howard, President and CEO of Burroughs.
