PLYMOUTH, Mich. –  Burroughs Payment Systems has launched the availability of its NEW SmartSource Expert scanner; a low-maintenance scanner suited for thin client-teller environments.  The Expert continues to provide the scalability and features tellers require to effectively serve their customers, while significantly reducing the amount and frequency of maintenance tasks typically required of desktop scanning devices, according to Burroughs’ Program Director for Check Solutions John Wezner. 

            “Everyone at Burroughs and our existing customers are really excited about our new generation of SmartSource scanners,” said Wezner.  “The built-in intelligence of the Expert scanner provides an ideal platform for a teller application, allowing onboard out-sort decisions such as MICR and quality rejects.” 

Onboard memory also allows for continued processing even in the event of a network failure, with storage for up to 1,000 images and related data, according to Wezner.  “The capabilities of the machine, combined with a series of product enhancements such as automatic opening and closing of the input hopper, simplify teller operation and reduce required maintenance to provide a compelling thin client solution,” said Wezner.
